Conduct CFD simulation modeling and numerical analysis for data center server room end-of-row fan wall cooling units, rack heat dissipation, and room-level airflow distribution. Perform simulation verification and calculations regarding temperature fields, velocity fields, thermal dead zones, and return air recirculation based on room layout, fan wall supply strategies, and rack loads.
Key responsibilities
Conduct CFD simulation modeling and numerical analysis for data center server room end-of-row fan wall cooling units, rack heat dissipation, and room-level airflow distribution
Perform simulation verification and calculations regarding temperature fields, velocity fields, thermal dead zones, and return air recirculation based on room layout, fan wall supply strategies, and rack loads
Generate simulation reports and optimization recommendations covering fan wall unit selection, vent layout, static pressure control, and cold/hot aisle optimization
Collaborate with the detailed design team to optimize cooling unit layout, air supply methods, airflow containment, and heat dissipation strategies based on simulation results
Coordinate with on-site teams regarding technical requirements; provide simulation-based validation and remediation plans for issues such as overheating, uneven airflow, or insufficient airflow volume
Standardize CFD simulation templates, operating condition libraries, and reporting systems; establish optimal simulation models for fan wall cooling units
Support the client with approval submissions and project presentations by producing compliant, visualized simulation results and analytical conclusions
About you
Bachelor's degree or higher in Fluid Mechanics, Thermal Energy Engineering, HVAC, Energy & Power Engineering, or related fields; experience with data center CFD simulation is required
Proficiency in at least one simulation software package (e.g., Fluent, 6SigmaDC, or Icepak); ability to independently complete modeling and calculations for fan wall systems, airflow, and thermal environments
Familiarity with data center fan wall cooling, cold/hot aisle containment, airflow sealing, and rack heat dissipation principles; ability to produce actionable optimization plans
Competence in analyzing simulation results, diagnosing issues, and comparing design options; ability to independently produce comprehensive simulation reports
Strong communication skills; ability to support on-site implementation and address inquiries during the approval process; prior experience with IDC (Internet Data Center) simulation projects is preferred
