About the role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated English Teacher to join SMP Al Ashar in Tangerang, Banten. This is a full-time position offering a meaningful opportunity to inspire and educate secondary school students in the English language. As an English Teacher, you will play a vital role in developing students' language skills, critical thinking abilities, and cultural awareness. This position is instrumental in shaping the academic foundation and linguistic capabilities of our students, contributing directly to their educational success and future opportunities.

What you'll be doing

Plan, prepare and deliver engaging English lessons to secondary school students in accordance with the school curriculum and learning objectives

• Develop and implement effective teaching strategies that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities
• Create and utilise appropriate teaching materials, resources and assessment tools to facilitate student learning
• Assess student progress through regular testing, assignments and classroom participation, providing constructive feedback
• Maintain detailed records of student attendance, achievements and areas requiring additional support
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and academic growth
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any areas of concern
• Participate in school events, activities and professional development opportunities
• Collaborate with fellow teaching staff to ensure consistency in curriculum delivery and educational standards
• Support the school's mission and values in all professional interactions
• What we're looking for
• Bachelor's degree in English, Education, English Language Teaching or a related discipline
• Able to communicate in English (active and passive skills)
• Strong knowledge of English grammar, literature, composition and contemporary language usage
• Excellent classroom management and student motivation skills
• Ability to design and deliver creative, student-centred lessons that encourage active participation
• Proficiency with educational technology and digital learning tools
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, parents and colleagues
• Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with educational best practices
• Patience, enthusiasm and genuine passion for teaching and supporting student development
• Understanding of the Indonesian education system and familiarity with the local context is advantageous
