Field Service Engineer (Data Center - Power, UPS)

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Field Service Engineer with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering to join our team. This position will primarily focus on providing on-site service, maintenance, and support for critical electrical systems in data centers, including Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, along with a solid understanding of electrical systems and data center operations.

Key Responsibilities

Perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, analyzes and prepare root cause analysis report (RCA), 24X7 support of UPS systems and other critical electrical equipment within data centers.

Conduct preventive maintenance and repair tasks on UPS systems, power distribution units (PDUs), static transfer switch (STS), electrical panels, and related equipment.

• Troubleshoot electrical issues, including power outages, UPS failures, and system alarms, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Provide technical support for clients, answering queries and delivering solutions for electrical system issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation of service activities, including work orders, reports, and service history.
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to ensure seamless integration and operation of electrical systems in the data center.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company procedures while working on-site.
• Perform regular inspections and testing of electrical systems to ensure they are operating at peak performance.
• Assist with the training of junior engineers and technicians on electrical systems and best practices.
• Monitor and track system performance and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in field service engineering, specifically with UPS systems and data center electrical systems.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including UPS, Battery, STS, PDUs, transformers, and power distribution.

Ability to troubleshoot, analyzes and prepare root cause analysis report (RCA) electrical issues, read and interpret electrical schematics, and perform hands-on repairs.

• Familiarity with data center operations and critical power systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with clients and internal teams.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Knowledge of safety standards and procedures related to electrical systems.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with advanced UPS models and other backup power solutions.
• Familiarity with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools.
• Certifications in UPS maintenance, electrical safety, or similar fields are a plus.
