Finance accounting and Tax director

About the role

Politeknik Internasional Bali is seeking an experienced Finance Accounting and Tax Director to lead our financial operations and tax strategy. This is a full-time position based in Tabanan, Bali, offering strategic leadership and oversight of all accounting, financial reporting, and tax compliance functions. As Finance Accounting and Tax Director, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and the optimisation of our tax position whilst supporting the institution's growth and operational objectives.

Key responsibilities

Oversee all financial accounting functions, including general ledger management, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close procedures

Lead the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements

Develop and implement comprehensive tax strategy and planning initiatives to minimise tax liabilities whilst ensuring full compliance with Indonesian tax legislation

Manage all tax compliance obligations, including income tax returns, value-added tax (VAT), payroll tax reporting and other statutory tax filings

Direct and supervise the accounting team, providing mentorship, training and performance management to ensure high standards of financial reporting

• Establish and maintain robust internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard institutional assets and prevent fraud
• Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities and regulatory bodies regarding financial and tax matters
• Prepare comprehensive financial reports and analysis for senior management and the board of directors to support strategic decision-making
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement systems enhancements to increase accounting efficiency and accuracy
• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, labour laws and institutional policies
• What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional accounting qualifications (CA, CPA, or equivalent) are highly desirable

Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial accounting, reporting and tax management, preferably within an educational institution or similar complex organisational environment

• Comprehensive knowledge of Indonesian accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
• Proven expertise in financial statement preparation, consolidation, and reporting under relevant accounting frameworks
• Strong understanding of tax planning strategies, corporate taxation, and withholding tax obligations
• Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and develop accounting teams effectively
• Proficiency with accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial and tax matters to non-financial stakeholders
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in financial reporting
• Integrity, ethical conduct and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality
• Experience in higher education or professional services organisations would be advantageous
