About the role
We are looking for an experienced Head of Product Development to lead our Fashion Design and Product Development function across apparel and jewelry. Working closely with the Creative Director, this role owns the end-to-end development process from design concept through technical development, sampling, fitting and final production readiness. The role is responsible for ensuring products are creatively aligned, technically complete, properly documented and ready for production handoff.
- Key responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end Fashion Design and Product Development process across apparel and jewelry.
- Develop design concepts, silhouettes and product ideas within the approved brand and creative direction.
- Translate creative concepts into commercially viable and technically executable products.
- Lead sampling, fittings, revisions and final technical approval.
- Establish and maintain technical standards for fit, measurement, grading, construction, tolerances and product acceptance.
- Define product quality requirements and technical acceptance criteria for Production and QC to execute and inspect against.
Define required material testing and approve material suitability, including shrinkage, dimensional stability, colourfastness, stretch, recovery and other relevant performance tests.
- Oversee tech packs, measurement specifications, construction details, material information, sample revisions and version control.
- Source and develop fabrics, materials, trims and components from both local and overseas suppliers.
- Provide technical direction to the Product Development team, pattern makers, sample makers and development suppliers.
- About you
Minimum 5 years of experience in a Head of Product Development, Senior Product Development, Product Development Manager or equivalent leadership role within the fashion industry.
- Strong experience developing fashion products from concept through sampling, fitting, technical approval and production readiness.
- Strong fashion design capability, supported by a portfolio showing collection and product development from concept through final design.
- Strong technical knowledge of garment construction, fit, measurements, grading and technical standards.
- Strong experience with tech packs and technical Product Development documentation.
- Proven experience establishing practical Product Development standards, processes and controls.
- Strong knowledge of fabrics, materials, trims and components, including material testing and technical suitability.
- Experience sourcing and developing materials from both local and overseas suppliers.
- Strong technical problem-solving, planning and organisational skills.
- Experience managing and developing Product Development or Fashion Design team members.
