Custom Specialist

Responsible for import materials HS code classification and management for home appliance products and solving customs classification disputes.

In charge of export finished goods HS code classification and customs reconciliation, as well as reverse export materials and reconciliation management.

Setting up import and export customs clearance SOP, highlighting customs compliance requirements to upstream and downstream stakeholders and implementing/executing SOP smoothly.

• Customs book/records managements, yielding monthly variance report (customs records vs physicals).
• Based on cycle count and monthly variance report to provide solutions to narrow the gap between customs records and physical inventory.
• Collecting local customs regulations and trade policies, analyzing the impacts to business.
• Preparing customs compliance training materials and providing training to the related stakeholders.
• Import Operation
• Manage end-to-end import procedures, from import documentation preparation and shipment coordination through customs clearance and delivery.
• Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth and timely import operations.

Coordinate with the Finance team to conduct document checks and ensure import-related information is properly aligned for payment and accounting purposes.

• Reconcile import-related charges with suppliers and freight forwarders, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies when identified.
• Maintain accurate operational ledgers, import records, and supporting documentation for tracking and reporting purposes.
• Coordinate with relevant departments to resolve operational issues and ensure smooth end-to-end import activities.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree with minimum 3 years of experience in import-export business operations, and customs clearance. Candidates with experience in the home appliance industry are preferred.

Familiar with international trade theories, import/export customs clearance knowledge, and have a certain understanding of bonded processing trade, commodity classification and coding, and the filling of import/export customs declaration forms.

Possess the ability to identify common problems in business operations, and be capable of handling abnormal issues based on existing processes and clear solutions.

Proficient in English, able to communicate orally and in writing in daily work; have strong communication and coordination, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
