: Gili Meno, Indonesia
This role takes you to a small island in Indonesia—Gili Meno—where you’ll help build a microschool for local children and contribute to work that shapes the island’s future.
Your days are grounded in real things: kids, families, and the environment around you.
You might spend a morning sitting next to a student as they push through a math challenge, and an afternoon helping that same student complete a project on reef health, waste systems, or soil regeneration—work connected to what’s actually happening on the island.
This role lives at the intersection of two forces.
AI is changing how students learn, making personalized academic instruction faster and more accessible. At the same time, this community is working to care for its land, water, and future. Your role sits in the middle—helping young people grow into capable, motivated humans who can contribute to both.
We’re looking for someone who is drawn to a life that is beautiful, remote, and occasionally unpredictable—and who wants their work to make a real difference. You love being around kids. You take energy from building something new. You don’t need a finished system handed to you.
Most of your time is spent alongside students—coaching, guiding, asking questions, helping them get unstuck, and pushing them to do work they’re proud of.
You’ll spend much of your time motivating students in a learner-centered microschool—asking questions, helping them solve their problems, and supporting them as they complete tough academic work.
Projects might include reef monitoring, waste reduction systems, soil-building experiments, or environmental storytelling. You’ll collaborate with local experts to shape these into real projects—then work alongside students to move from ideas to execution.
You’ll roll up your sleeves with them—planting, building, watering, and pushing toward tangible improvements to the island’s environment and production.
At least 3 years of experience working with youth ages 5-14 in an educational or developmental setting (school, camp counselor, coaching, or youth programs)
Experience as an athletic coach, drama director, debate coach, or camp program leader where you motivated kids to perform, not just participate
