About the role
- We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated
- Preschool Teacher
- to join Caterpillar Playhouse in Medan, Sumatera Utara. This is a
- full-time position
where you will play a crucial role in shaping the early educational experiences of young children. As a Preschool Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing, safe, and stimulating learning environment that fosters the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development of children in our care. This role is fundamental to our mission of providing high-quality early childhood education and forming the foundation for lifelong learning.
Key responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning activities and lessons that promote cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development
- Create and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment that encourages exploration and discovery
- Observe and assess children's progress, behaviour and development, and maintain detailed records of individual milestones and achievements
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about their child's development, progress, and any concerns or celebrations
- Manage classroom behaviour and discipline using positive reinforcement and age-appropriate strategies
- Provide personal care assistance including feeding, toileting, and hygiene support as needed
- Collaborate with colleagues and other professionals to support the holistic development of each child
- Prepare learning materials, resources, and displays that reflect current themes and learning objectives
- Follow health, safety, and safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the wellbeing of all children in your care
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities
- What we're looking for
- A formal qualification in Early Childhood Education, Preschool Teaching, or an equivalent recognised credential
- Proven experience working with preschool-aged children (typically 2-5 years old) in an educational or childcare setting
- A genuine passion for working with young children and commitment to their development and wellbeing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
- Strong organisational and planning abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple activities and priorities
- Patience, creativity, and flexibility in responding to the changing needs and interests of young learners
- Knowledge of child development theories and best practices in early childhood education
- A commitment to safeguarding and child protection, with the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency in Indonesian language; English language skills are advantageous
- A clear background check and evidence of good health and fitness to work with children
