As the Senior Building Management System (BMS) Engineer, you will report to the BMS Manager and support the reliable operation and continuous improvement of the Building Management System of specific data centers. You will be the day-to-day technical focal point for BMS-related matters, providing engineering support for operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and system enhancements in line with PDG standards and site reliability objectives.
Key responsibilities
Act as the site technical focal point for BMS matters and provide escalation support for complex system issues, working under the guidance of the BMS Manager.
Maintain day-to-day reliability of BMS functions supporting HVAC, electrical monitoring interfaces, environmental sensing, and critical alarms; ensure alarm quality and recommend improvements.
Lead or support incident response for BMS/control failures (fault finding, diagnosis, recovery) and perform RCA/CAPA with the wider team; coordinate vendor support to restore service within SLA and provide clear status updates.
Maintain system trending, reports, and dashboards for key BMS parameters and alarms; analyze data to identify abnormal performance and implement corrective actions.
Execute BMS changes (software/hardware/configuration/graphics/alarming) in accordance with change management and access control requirements, including impact assessment, testing, back-out planning, and post-change validation.
Draft, review, and maintain BMS operation and handover documentation (SOP/MOP/EOP, testing procedures, as-built information, point lists, configuration backups) and ensure records are kept current.
Supervise and coordinate vendors/contractors for BMS operations and preventive maintenance: define daily tasks, review method statements, witness works/testing, and verify deliverables and quality.
Support operational readiness for BMS upgrades/changes by reviewing impacts to live operations, coordinating testing windows, validating alarm/graphics/point performance after changes, and ensuring proper documentation and knowledge transfer to operations.
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in BMS/SCADA operations, commissioning, or facility controls, preferably in data centers or other mission-critical facilities.
Strong knowledge of BMS architectures, SCADA, PLC/DDC controllers, field instrumentation, and building automation protocols (e.g., BACnet/IP & MSTP, Modbus TCP/RTU, SNMP, OPC where applicable).
Strong operations experience in running and sustaining BMS for mission-critical facilities, including alarm management, change control, preventive maintenance coordination, and vendor/SLA management.
Experience in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and incident management for control systems.
Familiarity with BMS dashboards, DCIM/CMMS integrations, data trending/analytics, and reporting (e.g., KPI performance, alarm metrics, energy/performance indicators).
Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder management skills; able to communicate complex technical issues clearly and coach junior team members.
Able to lead technical tasks/workstreams (e.g., investigations, upgrades, testing) and work independently while escalating key risks and decisions to the higher management.
