The Role
As Site Manager, you are responsible for strengthening, supervising, and evaluating planned and ongoing operations at the Batam project site(s) under your management. This includes ensuring technical operations run smoothly, overseeing financial needs, and providing monthly operational reports to the General Manager of Indonesia. You will foster strong relationships with local governments, community stakeholders, and partners while also serving as the main point of contact for visitors to the site. In addition, you will support the performance assessment of the project team at the site in collaboration with the HR team and the General Manager of Indonesia.
Lead, plan, and oversee project implementation in Batam, including cleanup, household collection, sorting, and plastic raw material stocking.
Develop monthly financial needs, recovery targets, and operational plans based on site capacity, ensuring timely execution and accurate performance tracking.
Analyze and evaluate operational challenges, identify improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions to enhance performance and efficiency.
Supervise and guide the Operation Lead, Coordinators, and their teams to ensure activities align with SCS standards, safety procedures, and certification requirements.
Lead and promote HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) culture and implementation on site activities, ensuring proactive risk identification and mitigation.
Develop and maintain a partnership with all key stakeholders that support, or should be otherwise informed and engaged in, operations at the project site (government, private sector, and community).
Manage procurement, site resources, and logistics in collaboration with the Operation Lead Batam to ensure operational readiness and continuity.
Support project visits and stakeholder tours by ensuring the site is well-prepared, organized, and compliant with safety and presentation standards.
Represent SCS in local events, meetings, or partnerships, serving as the organization's key representative in Batam.
Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager of Indonesia in line with operational needs.
Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
2 - 3 years of experience in sustainability or relevant industries, ideally including skills in project coordination, stakeholder management, or programme support (preferably within a start-up or scale-up environment). A solid background in project management is essential, ideally with proven experience in managing site operations, field logistics, and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
Fluency in English is essential for this role.
Strong communication skills with the ability to represent SCS professionally in both internal and external forums.
Proven ability to supervise and guide the Operation Lead, Coordinators, and their teams to ensure activities align with organizational standards.
Capability to ensure that all operational activities at the site comply with applicable local regulations and adhere to Seven Clean Seas (SCS) HSE standards.
Strong capability to ensure the timely management of administrative and technical tasks to maintain compliance, including HSE and certification requirements related to plastic collection and credit registration.
