- Job description for Social Video Editor & Sound Designer at Daichi Nia Group Sdn. Bhd.
- Job Title: Social Video Editor & Sound Designer (Building Founder IP & Event Space Business)
Work Arrangement: 100% Work-From-Home (WFH) (Fully remote post-production pipeline. If attending occasional shoot days in JB or Singapore, all transport and lodging are 100% covered).
- Employment Type: Full-time
- Remuneration: RM 3,800 – RM 4,500 / month (based on cutting speed, storytelling instinct & sound design)
Who You Will Be Working For & The Mission You are joining as the post-production engine behind an Indonesian-born Chinese (Chindo) who earned a prestigious scholarship to NTU Singapore, built a successful career in SG teaching over 50 piano students a week, and is now crossing the Causeway into Johor Bahru to invest RM 8,000,000 income savings into building an premier concert and event venue.
We don’t need an editor who just stitches clips together with generic CapCut templates. Your mission is to make the founder look magnetic, sharp, and viral. You are responsible for the pacing, comedic timing, emotional arc, and auditory soul of her content across:
- The Cross-Border Founder Journey: An Indonesian-born Chinese NTU graduate navigating life between Singapore and Malaysia, staking an RM 8,000,000 income savings on her own dream.
- The Contrast: High-discipline classical piano artistry (teaching 50+ students weekly) vs. hard hats, acoustic engineering, contractor debates, and massive capital risk on an active construction site.
- Immersive Travel & Culture: Documenting her overseas travels, music explorations, and food journeys with raw curiosity and authentic cultural perspective.
Our visual & narrative benchmarks
- Torres Pit (托哥) Style: Relentless narrative pace, zero viewer drop-off, kinetic comedic zooms, and punchy travel vlog editing.
- Grumpy Bagel Style: Deep, layered foley sound design (piano chords, hammer clicks, footsteps on construction gravel, coffee pours), warm cinematic grading, and cozy aesthetic flow.
- Key Responsibilities
- High-Retention Narrative Editing (WFH): Assemble high-tempo vertical cuts for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. Cut ruthlessly on action and voice inflections, eliminating dead air while preserving the founder’s natural cadence and comedic beat.
- Transforming Remote Travel Footage: Take raw, shaky, uncurated mobile footage captured by the founder during her holiday and overseas trips and turn it into slick, cohesive, high-retention travel vlogs through clever pacing, speed ramps, and bespoke soundscapes.
- Tactile Sound Design & Foley (Crucial): Build multi-track soundscapes from scratch. Layer ambient room presence, physical foley (piano acoustics, concrete dust, blueprints rustling, luggage wheels, street ambience), and modern audio punctuation (sub-bass hits, micro-whooshes, record stops).
- Cinematic Color Grading: Grade footage with a warm, natural, cohesive aesthetic across both professional mirrorless log footage and raw phone travel clips.
- Visual Polish: Craft bespoke kinetic typography, subtitle styling, and subtle motion graphics that elevate the brand rather than feel cheap.
- Fast-Turnaround Delivery: Maintain an organized cloud post-production workflow, delivering polished first cuts within 24–48 hours of shoot wraps and iterating quickly.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of dedicated short-form or modern documentary vlog editing experience (supported by a portfolio of published TikTok/Reels/Shorts).
- Mastery of Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or CapCut Desktop (advanced keyframing, speed curves, color curves, audio repair).
- Audio-First Mindset: A demonstrated ability to tell stories through rich foley and music selection, transforming flat camera audio into a tactile listening experience.
- Proven skill in assembling a compelling narrative out of disparate, non-professional mobile footage.
- Dedicated home editing workstation capable of handling 4K footage smoothly, paired with high-speed internet.
- Highly responsive, self-driven communicator who excels in an autonomous remote setup.
How to Apply We do not review generic CVs or agency PDF portfolios. Send your resume and a link (Google Drive / Notion / YouTube / TikTok) to 3 pieces of vertical short-form content that best prove your storytelling, pacing, or sound design.
In your application, answer these two screening questions
- How would you edit and pace the contrast between an NTU scholar teaching 50 classical piano students in SG and overseeing an RM 8,000,000 venue build in JB to hook viewers in the first 3 seconds and keep them watching until the end?
- If the founder sends you 20 minutes of raw, uncurated iPhone footage from an overseas trip, what exact sound design and editing techniques would you use to deliver a Torres Pit-style travel reel?
