Software QA Engineer (with Development Capability)

• We are looking for a detail-oriented and responsible the
• Software QA Engineer

for protecting the quality, reliability, and usability of the company’s software applications. The role will design and execute tests, identify and document defects, verify fixes, and work closely with the two-person software development team throughout the development lifecycle.

The successful candidate should also have hands-on software development fundamentals. This capability is required to understand application logic, reproduce technical issues, inspect code where appropriate, write test utilities or automation, and contribute minor fixes or development tasks when assigned.

• Key Responsibilities
• A. Quality Assurance and Testing — Primary
• Review business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications before development is completed.
• Prepare test plans, test scenarios, test cases, test data, and regression checklists.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, smoke, exploratory, usability, compatibility, and basic performance testing.
• Test web applications, APIs, databases, user roles, permissions, workflows, validations, reports, and responsive interfaces.
• Identify, reproduce, document, prioritize, and track defects with clear evidence, severity, environment, and reproduction steps.
• Retest resolved defects and confirm that fixes do not create regression issues elsewhere.
• Participate in requirement review, sprint planning, daily coordination, reviews, retrospectives, and release readiness checks.
• Maintain QA documentation and provide concise test status, defect trends, release risks, and recommendations.
• Support user acceptance testing and coordinate feedback from internal users or operational departments.
• B. Development Support — Secondary
• Read and understand application code written in ASP.NET, Laravel/PHP, and JavaScript.
• Use browser developer tools, application logs, SQL queries, and API tools to investigate defects.
• Create or maintain automated tests, test scripts, seed data, mocks, or small QA utilities where practical.
• Contribute minor bug fixes, validation changes, UI corrections, or small development tasks after review by the development team.
• Follow the team’s coding standards, peer-review process, branch strategy, and deployment controls.
• Required Qualifications
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

At least 1 year of relevant experience in software QA, software testing, or web application development. Strong fresh graduates with demonstrable projects may be considered.

• Solid understanding of software testing concepts, defect lifecycle, test design, and software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Ability to test web applications methodically and communicate defects clearly to developers and non-technical users.
• Working knowledge of ASP.NET/C#, Laravel/PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, REST APIs, and relational databases/SQL.
• Practical experience using Git for branches, commits, pull/merge requests, code review, and conflict handling.
• Understanding of Agile development, including user stories, acceptance criteria, sprints, backlog, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.

• Experience with test management or issue-tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, GitHub/GitLab Issues, or equivalent.
• Experience testing ERP, purchasing, inventory, hospitality, property, finance, or internal operational systems.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated tests in deployment workflows.
• Basic knowledge of application security testing, performance testing, and accessibility testing.
• Portfolio, Git repository, sample test cases, defect reports, or automation projects that demonstrate practical ability.
