BACKEND DEVELOPER – Remote (Indonesia)

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Developer based in Indonesia to help build the core engine of our upcoming ride-hailing application. You will focus on implementing real-time tracking, geospatial driver-matching, and processing secure transactions. This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with our architecture requirements to build stable, low-latency APIs.

• Key responsibilities
• Manage WebSockets (via AWS API Gateway) to process live, high-frequency GPS coordinate updates from driver apps
• Use Redis geospatial functions to query and match passengers with the nearest available drivers efficiently
• Build event-driven backend workflows using Node.js to process ride requests, calculate fares, and handle state transitions asynchronously

Connect third-party APIs including mapping services (Google Maps) and Singapore-based payment gateways (Stripe with PayNow support, Xendit SG)

Follow data security standards to ensure user data protection (PDPA compliance), including data encryption at rest/in transit and proper PII masking

• About you
• 2 to 4 years of professional production experience with Node.js
• Strong foundational knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL via AWS RDS), along with experience using Redis for fast data caching
• Proven experience building RESTful APIs and integrating complex third-party mapping and payment systems

Strong understanding of writing clean, modular code (using MVC or Clean Architecture principles) and proficiency with Git workflows (branching, pull requests, code reviews)

• Prior experience working on ride-hailing, on-demand delivery, or logistics/fleet management features
• Basic experience or familiarity with AWS Serverless infrastructure (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, ElastiCache)
• Basic understanding of routing logic or graph algorithms (like Dijkstra's) for calculating trip routes and ETAs
