About the Company
A leading multinational manufacturing company with a significant presence in Indonesia and a large-scale operational footprint. The company is continuing to strengthen its local organisation and is looking for a senior legal professional to take ownership of its country-level legal, regulatory and government affairs agenda.
About the Role
This is a broad country-level role covering legal, regulatory, government affairs and risk management. Reporting to the HR & Corporate Affairs Vice GM, you will act as a key legal advisor to the business and work closely with senior leadership, government authorities and external stakeholders.
You will have the opportunity to play a key role in supporting business operations, investment projects and ongoing transformation initiatives across Indonesia.
- Key Responsibilities
- Lead country-level legal governance, regulatory compliance and corporate legal affairs
- Provide legal advice to senior leadership and business stakeholders
- Oversee commercial and corporate contract review, drafting and negotiation
- Manage corporate permits, licensing and regulatory requirements, including operational and expatriate licensing
- Build and maintain relationships with government authorities, ministries, regulatory agencies and other external stakeholders
- Lead legal support for FDI, greenfield investment, factory establishment and other major business initiatives
- Manage litigation, disputes, regulatory investigations and legal escalations, working with external legal counsel where required
- Support labour and employment-related legal matters in partnership with HR and business leaders
- Provide legal support for due diligence, M&A, corporate restructuring and business transformation initiatives
- Identify and manage legal and regulatory risks while ensuring the company's ongoing compliance and license to operate
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Law; Master's Degree in Law, Business Law, Corporate Law, International Law or related fields is a plus
- 10–15+ years of progressive legal and regulatory experience
- Strong background in Indonesian corporate, commercial, employment and regulatory law
- Experience in a multinational and/or manufacturing environment
- Strong exposure to government affairs, licensing, regulatory approvals and stakeholder management
- Proven experience supporting FDI, greenfield projects, factory establishment or major business investments
- Experience handling litigation, disputes, legal risk and regulatory matters
- Strong contract drafting, review and negotiation skills
- Licensed Advocate/Attorney in Indonesia is preferred
- Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken
- Confident engaging with senior management, government authorities and external stakeholders
- Strong commercial mindset, judgement, negotiation and problem-solving skills
