About the role
- We are seeking an experienced
- Purchasing Officer
- to join our team in Batam, Riau Islands. This is a
- full-time position
that plays a crucial role in supporting our manufacturing and logistics operations. As Purchasing Officer, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating and procuring materials and services that are essential to our business operations. This role requires a strategic approach to purchasing decisions whilst ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality standards and timely delivery of goods and services to meet operational demands.
- Key responsibilities
- Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers and vendors in line with company requirements and quality standards
- Sourcing materials, equipment and services required for manufacturing and operations at competitive prices
- Negotiating contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve optimal cost savings whilst maintaining quality and delivery timelines
- Issuing purchase orders and managing the procurement process from requisition to delivery
- Monitoring supplier performance and maintaining strong working relationships with key vendors
- Coordinating with inventory management teams to ensure stock levels are maintained efficiently and effectively
- Tracking purchase orders, managing delivery schedules and resolving any issues with suppliers or deliveries
- Maintaining accurate records of purchases, invoices and procurement documentation
- Supporting cost reduction initiatives and identifying opportunities for process improvements within the purchasing function
- Ensuring compliance with company purchasing policies and relevant regulations
- What we're looking for
- Proven experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within manufacturing, transport or logistics environments
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management and inventory control principles
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and manage supplier relationships
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple purchase orders and suppliers simultaneously
- Proficiency in using procurement systems and spreadsheet software for tracking and analysis
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining procurement records and documentation
- Communication skills in English and Indonesian, with the ability to liaise with internal teams and external suppliers
- An understanding of cost management and budget control within procurement functions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced operational environment
- Relevant qualifications or certification in procurement, purchasing or supply chain management would be advantageous
