Role Overview
The SAP FICO Consultant will be responsible for the end to end design, configuration, implementation, and support of the SAP Financial Accounting (FI) and Controlling (CO) modules. Beyond day to day functional configuration, this role acts as the critical functional to technical liaison, coordinating closely with the Data Engineering and Business Intelligence (BI) teams. The objective is to design, construct, map, and support highly
Bridge the functional gap between complex SAP transactional structures (including ledger logic and financial hierarchies) and downstream data warehouse models to ensure reporting accuracy across the enterprise BI layer.
Core SAP FICO Configuration & Management
Functional Configuration: Design, configure, and maintain core SAP FICO modules, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Asset Accounting (AA), Cost Center Accounting (CCA), and Profit Center Accounting (PCA).
Requirement Analysis: Lead business process reviews, gather financial requirements, and translate them into Afunctional specifications and detailed system configurations.
Support & Maintenance: Provide day to day operational support, troubleshoot functional system errors, manage routine updates, and collaborate on system patches.
BI Integration & Data Pipeline Collaboration
Technical Liaison: Coordinate directly with Data Engineers to design, build, and optimize integrity data extraction pipelines leading from SAP FICO to the centralized Data Warehouse or Data Lake.
Data Mapping & Technical Dictionary: Define and document clear schemas mapping front-end BI requirements ( balance sheets, cost center analytics) to specific SAP technical tables (such as BSEG, BKPF, ACDOCA, COEP) and field levels. Maintain a comprehensive FICO data dictionary for non SAP technical team members.
Master Data & Text Resolution: Map key relationships between primary financial codes and text tables (SKA1/SKB1 G/L accounts, CSKS/CSKT cost centers) to ensure BI platforms render human-readable descriptions rather than raw
Hierarchy Modeling Support: Document and hand over functional organizational hierarchies (Profit Center, Cost Center, and Balance Sheet structures) to the Data Engineer, providing guidance on levelling complex parent child structures for scalable relational reporting.
Multi-Currency & Fiscal Calendar Alignment: Define translation rules for multiple currency fields (Document, Local, and Group currencies) and assist the BI team in mapping custom Fiscal Year Variants (Posting Periods / POPER) to a standard Gregorian calendar dimension.
Professional Experience: Minimum of 4+ years of hands-on configuration experience in SAP FICO. Direct experience with SAP ECC6 w/ Hana DB (particularly the Universal Journal / ACDOCA table architecture) is highly advantageous.
Data & SQL Knowledge: Strong familiarity with underlying SAP table structures. Ability to write or understand basic SQL queries to assist Data Engineers in verifying raw data extractions.
Analytical Competence: Proven experience working on data integration projects, effectively bridging the divide between ERP business logic and modern data warehouses (Microsoft SSAS, Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery) or BI tools (Power BI/Tableau).
Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills to successfully translate financial business demands into structured requirements for technical engineers.
