Barista

About the role

This is a Barista position responsible for preparing and serving a variety of coffee and non-coffee beverages according to standard recipes and operational procedures. The role involves operating and maintaining espresso machines and bar equipment, ensuring consistency in taste, portion, temperature, and presentation of drinks, and maintaining bar cleanliness and hygiene.

• Key responsibilities
• Prepare and serve all beverages according to SOP and standard recipes
• Maintain consistency in taste, quality, portion, and presentation of every drink
• Perform preparation of ingredients and ensure the bar station is always ready for use
• Operate and maintain cleanliness of espresso machine, grinder, blender, and bar equipment
• Check stock of beverage ingredients and report restocking needs
• Control usage of ingredients to minimise waste
• Maintain cleanliness, neatness, and hygiene of the bar area
• Ensure drink orders are made quickly and accurately according to orders
• Provide friendly and professional service to customers
• Perform closing procedures and ensure all bar equipment is clean and secure
• About you
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Barista, preferably in a cafe or restaurant
• Understanding of coffee basics: espresso, milk-based coffee, and manual brewing
• Ability to operate and maintain espresso machine, coffee grinder, and bar equipment
• Understanding of grind size, dosing, tamping, extraction, and steaming milk
• Ability to make various types of coffee and non-coffee drinks according to standard recipe
• Understanding of syrup, sauce, powder, milk, and other beverage ingredients
• Understanding of basic stock control, inventory, and waste control for bar area
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Friendly, quick, disciplined, honest, and responsible
• Able to work quickly and maintain quality during busy cafe conditions
