Golang Backend Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for a Backend Engineer with strong Golang experience to develop and maintain core backend services in a microservices environment. This role focuses on building high-throughput, low-latency services, contributing to system reliability, and working closely with a distributed engineering team.

• Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain backend microservices written in Go, including API endpoints, business logic, and data access layers.
• Design and implement service-to-service communication using gRPC and REST, with proper error handling, retries, and timeouts.
• Write and optimise database queries (MySQL) for performance, including indexing strategies and query plan analysis.
• Contribute to system reliability: structured logging, metrics instrumentation, alerting, and on-call production support during Jakarta business hours.
• Participate in the design and implementation of new features across order processing, batch management, driver management, and assignment services.
• Write and maintain unit tests, integration tests, and participate in load/performance testing for critical services.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to improving backend engineering standards, documentation, and best practices.
• Collaborate with the product, QA, and operations teams on requirements, testing, and release planning.
• Support production incident response: triage, root cause analysis, hotfixes, and postmortem documentation.
• Required Qualifications
• 3–5 years of professional backend engineering experience, with at least 2 years writing production Go.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, including service discovery, inter-service communication (gRPC, REST), and fault tolerance patterns.
• Solid RDBMS skills (MySQL or PostgreSQL): query optimisation, indexing, schema design, and migration management.
• Experience with message queues or event-driven systems (SQS, Kafka, RabbitMQ, NATS, or equivalent).
• Familiarity with containerised deployments (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Ability to diagnose and resolve production issues using log aggregation, tracing, and monitoring tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
• Based in Jakarta. This is a work-from-office position, five days per week.
• Nice to Have
• Experience with Redis for caching, distributed locking, or rate limiting.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch or similar search/indexing systems.
• Experience with observability tooling (Signoz, Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, or equivalent).
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing in Go, and deployment automation.
• Experience writing technical documentation, RCAs, or design proposals.
