Job Role
The Logistics Manager – U.S. Operations will oversee day-to-day logistics operations across the Greater Los Angeles area, covering warehouse operations, inland transportation, drayage, container handling, cross-border delivery, and last-mile distribution.
The role will be responsible for transportation planning, logistics routing, third-party vendor management, operational exception handling, and overall service performance. Working closely with overseas headquarters, international customers, and logistics partners, you will ensure smooth cargo movement while maintaining operational quality and cost efficiency.
The successful candidate will also establish and improve logistics SOPs, monitor operational performance and risks, manage logistics budgets, and drive continuous improvements across warehouse and transportation operations.
- Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily warehouse, inland trucking, drayage, container loading/unloading, cross-border delivery, and last-mile logistics operations.
- Develop transportation schedules and routing plans to optimize delivery efficiency and resource utilization.
- Monitor cargo movement across warehouses, ports, transportation networks, and delivery points.
- Manage trucking companies, warehouse providers, customs brokers, and other third-party logistics vendors.
- Conduct vendor performance reviews, negotiations, contract coordination, and compliance monitoring.
- Resolve operational issues including shipment delays, cargo damage, loss, customs holds, capacity shortages, and other exceptions.
- Establish, implement, and continuously improve logistics SOPs and operational procedures.
- Oversee inbound and outbound inspection processes and inventory management standards.
Coordinate with overseas headquarters, international customers, and logistics partners regarding operational requirements and service issues.
- Prepare operational performance reports, risk updates, and corrective action plans for senior management.
- Manage monthly logistics budgets and monitor transportation and warehousing expenses.
- Conduct logistics cost analysis and identify opportunities to reduce transportation and warehouse costs.
- Monitor operational KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve service quality, efficiency, and cost performance.
- Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or above in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, Transportation, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant logistics or supply chain experience, including experience in the U.S. market.
Practical experience managing U.S. logistics operations covering warehousing, inland trucking, drayage, freight forwarding, or last-mile distribution.
- Familiarity with the Port of Los Angeles, local drayage operations, container transportation, and warehouse operations.
- Working knowledge of U.S. customs clearance processes and basic logistics compliance requirements.
- Proven experience managing transportation planning, warehouse operations, and third-party logistics providers.
- Experience managing trucking companies, warehouse providers, customs brokers, and other logistics suppliers.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, trucking, drayage, container handling, cross-border transportation, and last-mile logistics.
- Hands-on experience using Microsoft Excel and WMS/TMS systems for operational management, data analysis, and reporting.
- Strong ability to develop routing plans, analyze logistics costs, and identify operational efficiency opportunities.
- Strong operational leadership and ability to manage day-to-day logistics activities independently.
- Strong vendor negotiation, stakeholder management, communication, and coordination skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly when handling shipment delays, cargo issues, peak-season demand, or last-minute operational changes.
- Proactive mindset with strong focus on SOP improvement, service quality, operational efficiency, and cost optimization.
- Comfortable working with international teams and reporting to overseas management.
- Professional working proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese is mandatory, both spoken and written.
Able to conduct business negotiations, handle professional correspondence, prepare operational reports, and coordinate independently in both English and Mandarin.
