- Project Manager
- to lead a major mining operation in East Kalimantan.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Project Manager to lead large-scale mining operations in East Kalimantan. This role is responsible for overseeing the execution of mining projects, managing multidisciplinary teams comprising thousands of site personnel, ensuring operational excellence, and delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned mining professional with strong leadership capabilities, extensive experience managing large mining contractor operations, and a proven track record of achieving production, safety, and financial targets.
- Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage end-to-end mining operations across multiple project areas.
- Direct large site-based teams, including operational, technical, maintenance, HSE, and support functions.
- Ensure achievement of production targets, productivity goals, and operational KPIs.
- Develop and implement strategic operational plans to optimize efficiency, cost control, and equipment utilization.
- Monitor project performance, budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation.
- Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all HSE regulations, company standards, and client requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, government authorities, local communities, and internal stakeholders.
- Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity.
- Lead, coach, and develop site leadership teams to enhance organizational capability and succession planning.
- Provide regular operational and financial reporting to senior management.
Requirements
- Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of experience within the mining industry.
- At least 8 years of experience in senior operational leadership, Project Manager, General Manager, Site Manager, or equivalent roles.
- Proven experience managing large-scale mining contractor operations with a workforce of 1,000+ employees.
- Strong understanding of mining production, fleet management, mine planning, maintenance, HSE, and project execution.
- Demonstrated success in achieving production, operational, and financial performance targets.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, contracts, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Excellent stakeholder management and client-facing capabilities.
- Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work on a roster basis and be based at a remote mining site in East Kalimantan.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in Project Management or Mining Management.
- Experience working with leading mining contractors or large coal mining operations.
- Experience managing projects with significant overburden removal and coal production targets.
- Familiarity with Indonesian mining regulations and industry best practices.
