- Key responsibilities
- Process guest payments accurately using point-of-sale systems, handling cash, credit cards, and other payment methods with precision
- Maintain cash drawer reconciliation at the beginning and end of each shift, ensuring all transactions balance correctly
- Provide courteous and efficient service to guests during checkout, addressing any questions or concerns about their bill
- Assist guests with currency exchange inquiries and provide information about payment options available
- Generate and review itemised invoices, ensuring all charges are accurately reflected
- Handle guest complaints regarding billing matters professionally and escalate complex issues to management when necessary
- Maintain confidentiality of guest financial information and adhere to data protection protocols
- Collaborate with front office and restaurant staff to ensure seamless coordination of charges and payments
- Process refunds and adjustments following company procedures and obtaining appropriate authorisation
- Keep the cash desk area clean, organised, and secure at all times
- What we're looking for
- Proven experience working as a cashier or in a similar front office role within the hospitality industry
- Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash handling equipment
- Strong numerical skills and ability to process transactions quickly and accurately
- Exceptional customer service orientation with a commitment to guest satisfaction
- Ability to remain calm and professional when handling difficult transactions or guest complaints
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and public holidays
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial transactions
- Certification in hospitality or cashier operations is advantageous
