- Key responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all welding operations, ensuring compliance with international welding standards and company quality specifications
- Conduct welding inspections and testing to verify structural integrity and material compatibility of welded joints
- Develop, review and update welding procedures and specifications in accordance with relevant technical codes and industry standards
- Train and supervise welding personnel, ensuring they follow approved welding procedures and maintain safe working practices
- Perform quality control inspections using non-destructive testing methods such as radiography, ultrasonic testing and visual inspection
- Troubleshoot welding defects and implement corrective measures to prevent reoccurrence
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of all welding activities, inspections and test results
- Liaise with production teams, maintenance staff and external contractors to ensure smooth welding operations
- Recommend equipment upgrades and process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations throughout all welding activities
- What we're looking for
- Formal qualification in welding engineering, metallurgy or a related engineering discipline
Minimum 5 years' professional experience as a Welding Engineer or in a similar welding-related role within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- In-depth knowledge of welding processes including MIG, TIG, stick welding and submerged arc welding
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, welding symbols and engineering specifications
- Strong understanding of welding codes and standards such as AWS (American Welding Society), ISO or equivalent international standards
- Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and quality assurance procedures
- Demonstrated ability to conduct inspections, testing and documentation with meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong communication and leadership abilities, with experience training and supervising welding personnel
- Proficiency in relevant software and computer systems for documentation and quality control
- Safety-focused mindset with commitment to maintaining high health and safety standards
- Preferably fluent in English; knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia is advantageous
